Division of Arts & Humanities
Through scholarly inquiry, artistic creation, and community engagement, the Division of Arts and Humanities cultivates a rich artistic and intellectual community that fosters a respect for diversity and encourages lifelong learning. The Division offers degree programs in art, communication, English, graphic design, history, modern languages (French, German, Japanese, and Spanish), music, musical theatre, photography, public relations, religion, and theatre; as well as a minor in dance, film and new media, photography, and women’s and gender studies; and a Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy.

Division of Natural & Social Sciences
Degree programs in the Division of Natural and Social Sciences prepare students to be leaders, innovators, and caregivers in a complex and rapidly changing world. The division offers degrees in such disciplines as biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, economics, engineering, environmental science, geospatial science, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, political science, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, and international political economy. The division also offers several dual-degree programs with partner institutions.

Division of Professional Studies
The Division of Professional Studies offers academic programs that lead to professional licensure or certifications: education, nursing, social work, exercise and sport science. In addition to Carthage’s liberal arts curriculum, these programs provide career-specific education and field experiences to prepare students to meet requirements for successful certification or licensure in a particular career path.

Carthage opened a School of Business and Economics in fall 2022, bringing together Carthage’s distinguished faculty in accounting, finance, business design and innovation, marketing, business, and sports management, and economics — as well as the renowned A. W. Clausen Center for World Business.

A. W. Clausen Center for World Business
The A. W. Clausen Center for World Business is both a first-class learning facility for Carthage students, and an active program of speakers, research, analysis, and publications. Committed to community service, the Center regularly brings accomplished visitors to Carthage for public lectures.

Carthage Institute of Paleontology
The Carthage Institute of Paleontology is the College’s paleontology research laboratory at the Dinosaur Discovery Museum in Kenosha. Carthage biology professor Thomas Carr, vertebrate paleontologist, is the Institute’s director and senior scientific advisor at the museum. Students prepare and conserve fossils collected during annual expeditions in the Institute’s lab.

Center for Children’s Literature
The Center for Children’s Literature at Carthage College strives to inform and inspire educators, parents, college students, and librarians to develop a love of reading in children. The center regularly hosts workshops, reading programs, and lectures by prominent authors and illustrators. The Center’s nationally recognized collection includes more than 27,000 books for children and young adults. Book reviews are posted online.

Center for Faith and Spirituality
Expressions of faith and spirituality are vital to the Carthage experience. Carthage is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Through the Center for Faith and Spirituality, we encourage ecumenical and interfaith conversations that explore the role of faith in shaping contemporary society and the disciplines of the liberal arts.

Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium
The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium, headquartered at Carthage, is a member institution of the national network of Space Grant Consortia funded by NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. WSGC represents a powerful network of space and aerospace professionals, researchers, students, educators, and legislators, that has statewide and national reach. The consortium provides multiple funding opportunities for Carthage students and faculty in space sciences research.
